Thrifty Thursday!

So in an effort to be more consistent with posting I have decided to start doing a theme Thursday! (Almost) Every Thursday I will be posting deals and steals on just about anything- groceries, restaurants, clothes, workout gear, etc.! Today my deal advice is just about as cheap as you can get - A STORE WHERE EVERYTHING IS $5 OR LESS. The store is called Five Below - think of it kinda like a slightly more expensive dollar store. Although waaay better! My favorite thing about the store is the variety of work out gear they have for $5 or less. I just recently picked up a 3lb pilates ball, new yoga mat (PINK), and a large blow up ball (also PINK) - all $5 each. They also have a great selection of weights (all different sizes) - one weight is $5 dollars - so $10 for a set. Unfortunately I had already bought my 5lb. weights at Bed Bath and Beyond for $25 a set before discovering this great find. I definitely could have saved $15 bucks darnit! Anyway- I am not sure how far cross country these great stores extend but they are definitely on the East Coast! I just checked out their website and they also have great sunscreen for $5 bucks (the same stuff that is normally $10 in drug stores)!!!!

Now for a quick update on my running- I suppose I should give a quick background - i have recently decided to start running on a somewhat consistent basis to get in better shape and to hopefully do a 5K, 10K and maybe a half marathon one day! So i found this great Couch to 5K plan thanks to Chic Runner and am trying to follow it. I consider myself more active than the couch potato assumed with this plan so I started in week 5. I have basically run 20 min or 2 miles 3 times a week for the past 3 weeks (with the exception of a 3 miler on Sunday - whoohooo). I know pathetic - but it is a start. I have read on so many runner blogs that starting out slow is really important to avoid injury and burning yourself out (or just exhausting yourself so much that you quit.) I really want to keep this up so I am going to try and increase to 3 miles in more of my running sessions. And then just slowly increase as I feel comfortable. So anyway I need to get two more sessions in this week (one today and one tomorrow - since I skipped yesterday). I totally set my alarm and had every intention of getting up this morning to run but somehow I didn't just hit snooze - I totally turned my alarm off!!! The worst part is I dont even remember doing this. All of a sudden I woke up in a panic worried I was late for work - luckily I wasn't. Well the day isn't over yet so there is still tonight to get in a nice little run. I wish i had gotten up this morning though because the weather is hot and humid here and really worse in the late afternoon/evening than the morning. I definitely have to run tomorrow morning since I have a busy afternoon and evening. I will keep you posted!

Happy shopping at FIVE BELOW - if you can find one!
