The Pottery Barn near me holds free classes once a month on Sunday mornings. You have to call the store and sign up but other than that you show up and they teach you how to decorate your home. This past Sunday's theme was color. They talked about working with neutrals and adding pops of color and pattern to mix up your style. They seemed to focus on wall color, furniture color, color accents in pillows, and texture. Here were some tips I learned:
- Dark wall colors with lighter wood and vice versa
- Accent pillows can be mixed and matched. Geometric shapes with florals, stripes with plaid, stripes with dots, etc. They said florals and paisley go with pretty much anything.
- Stick with one color palette - cool (blues & greens) or warm (reds, yellows, oranges). Both cool and warm mix well with the browns, blacks, greys, and neutral whites/tans/creams.
- Mix larger bold patterns with very small patterns to not overdo your accents.
- You can mix furniture wood as long as they are all along the same tone (dont mix light with dark). You can mix Espresso with Mahogany etc.
One of the pillows they highlighted was this sunflower pillow which I fell in love with (and had to get)!

Also when looking at their catalogue earlier I came across this gem! I just wish I had a wine cellar or super rustic vacation home to place this awesome piece in.

Check out your local Pottery Barn to see if they offer classes too. One cool thing is that after the class they give you a 10% off coupon to be used for purchases that same day!
The rest of my weekend pretty much involved golfing. I played 36 holes in two days. It was hot, humid, frustrating and just all around not too fun. All I have to say is that the Mr. owes me! Ugh! Today I definitely have the case of the Mondays (especially since I felt like I had no weekend). To survive I had ice cream for lunch! Please don't judge. A girls gotta do whatever it takes to get through the day- right?
